On June 30th, ROCKS members with 120 guests assembled at Imperial Boathouse in Choengmon, to celebrate the Installation of the incoming President, Adèle Smith. The weather was a little unsettled, but Imperial Boathouse decided to go ahead, and set up in their beautiful garden area behind reception. Guests arrived, to be greeted by Adèle, and the ladies were offered a corsage. Among the guests welcomed were members of ROCKS sister club from Makati South (Manila) in the Philippines, and sponsor club, Patong Beach in Phuket. |
| Khun Sriya had one more duty to perform. ROCKS honoured Rutger (Mike) Langaskens, who had done so much for Wat Jaeng entirely without prompting from anything but his own great heart, with a Paul Harris Award. This award was instituted by the Founder of Rotary International, so that members who epitomize what Rotary is all about, may be honoured, as ROCKS chose to honour Mike. Following the ceremonials, the atmosphere changed to one of partying as guests took to the dance floor, accompanied by the incomparable Ovada Show band. There was a serious side to the event, apart from the ceremonial aspect. With the aid of generous sponsors, ROCKS aimed to raise money for its prime cause, Wat Jaeng School. The painting of the main block is now complete, and the school is in excellent spirit, with pride of ownership of such sparkling buildings clearly showing. |
