Major Motorbike Raffle 2007

During the month of November, 2007, members of Rotary Club of Koh Samui, with the help of partners, ‘Friends’ and other willing helpers, sold 840 raffle tickets at 100 baht each, for a significant prize of a Yamaha motorcycle. The raffle was restricted to 999 tickets, offered for the period of one month, in the belief that it would create a sense of urgency to buy the tickets. The motorcycle itself was generously sponsored by Mike Langaskens of Profmil, which meant that the sales money would all be available for use in ROCKS’ Temple Schools Projects.
The final draw was made on 1st December 2007, during the 2nd Annual Dinner Dance, held at the Fair House Resort in Chaweng. There was a final ‘push’ to sell tickets that night, resulting in the sale of 300 tickets on that night alone!
The draw was made by Khun Ponlert of Thai Hoteliers Association. The winner was, in fact, an employee of the Fair House, who had purchased his ticket that very evening!
